At approximately 2:30 PM on Wednesday afternoon, a Village of Orland Hills maintenance worker was performing routine maintenance behind our Recreation Center and outside of the wetlands when his machine inadvertently caused the vegetation to catch fire.
Upon realizing what had happened the Orland Fire Department was contacted and immediately dispatched to the scene. They, along with several other neighboring departments, quickly responded and move to contain the fire within the wetlands. This prevented the fire from causing any damage to life or property surrounding Lake Lorin.
