Dear Neighbors,
It is my honor to inform you that the Village of Orland Hills is going to make history in the upcoming months. The first step happened when residents voted on a referendum to refund a portion of the Village’s cannabis tax money back to our residents. The next step will happen during the second week of January when residents will have the opportunity to apply for a Tax Rebate. This is the first time in the history of Orland Hills that money will be given back to our residents.
The Tax Rebate will be based only on the Village of Orland Hills portion of the property tax bill you pay. In the upcoming newsletter, we will provide examples of how we will calculate the estimated amount of money you will receive. The formula we will use is:
$500,000 divided by the number of applicants = the reimbursement
The application is enclosed in this envelope along with other information regarding the Tax Rebate. You can also go on the Village of Orland Hills website (www.orlandhills.org) to print the application. As you will see, there are easy steps to follow in order to qualify. If you have any questions, please call the Village Hall and your questions will be answered.

The Mayor, Trustees, and the Village Staff are proud to announce
the Village’s 1 st Residential Tax Rebate Program.
The following guidelines apply.
To qualify for the tax rebate, the applicant:
- Must be a property owner living in a single family home, townhome, or residential condominium unit
- Must provide proof of residency in their home with a current Illinois driver’s license or state identification card listing their Orland Hills address
- Must reside in the home at the time the application is submitted
- Must have a current 2024-2025 vehicle sticker validated by the Village at application drop off
Applications must include:
- A copy of your 2023 Property Tax Bill Proof of Payment (paid in CY 2024) - instructions enclosed
- A copy of your current valid Illinois driver’s license or Illinois state identification card. One individual
on the tax bill must provide a valid driver’s license.
Original documents will NOT be accepted. Village personnel will NOT make copies under any
circumstances. Applicants must provide copies of all requested materials.
A rebate check will NOT be processed if:
- You have NOT purchased a current vehicle sticker
- You have a past due ticket or violation owed to the Village at the time of application
- You have not paid your 2023 property taxes
Failure to submit complete and accurate information by the deadline will result in the rejection of your application.
THE PROPERTY TAX REBATE APPLIES ONLY TO THE VILLAGE OF ORLAND HILLS PORTION OF THE TAX BILL.
