The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that resurfacing of 159th Street (U.S. 6) from 94th Avenue, in Orland Park, to Cicero Avenue (Illinois 50), in Oak Forest, passing through Orland Hills and Tinley Park, will require daily lane closures beginning, weather permitting, March 2.
The project, which consists of resurfacing the 5-mile stretch of 159th Street and constructing new ADA compliant sidewalk ramps, is expected to be completed in July. Curb, gutter and sidewalk repairs along 159th Street between 94th Avenue and Ridgeland Avenue were completed in November 2019.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
